Bloom

Hi there and welcome back!  It's Monday evening and time to share my sample for this week's Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  I've also used the fabulous current sketch from CAS(E) this sketch for my layout.

This week Peggy has chosen the colors Real Red, Garden Green  Cucumber Crush and Sahara Sand, and "dessert" is "Let's have a picnic!".  I don't know if my card technically qualifies for dessert, but if you have flowers at a picnic, then I'm in!
ETA:  I've used the wrong green this week, should be Cucumber Crush.  Ah well, better pay closer attention to the list next week LOL!

The Impression Obsession stamp I used to create my card was an impulse buy at the LSS.  I loved the cute line art drawing of cone flowers and the hand drawn frame.  I thought it would work perfectly in the corner for the sketch.

I stamped it in Archival Basic Black on watercolor paper, used an Aqua Painter and reinkers to color with the challenge colors.  The flowers had little black dots on the cone part, so after it dried from watercoloring, I used a White Signo gel pen to color the dots white, plus fill in between the black parts of the frame.  Lastly, I trimmed it with my paper snips to mount on the card base.

Stripes and splatter dots were stamped in the lower right corner of the Thick Whisper White base, then gold thread attached before adding the water colored square.  Okay, I think I got a little carried away with the gold thread but it was fun trying to make all the circles and shape it to fit under the little square.  ;-)

Thanks for taking time to drop by - your visit and comments are always so appreciated.  Do be sure to use the links above to check out the great challenges and beautiful inspiration!

Until next time....

Stef
